Within a span of four years and nearly 30 films in her career Pooja Gandhi has turned very soft towards the problems in the society especially of HIV AIDS children and sex workers.

I had a great transformation in my life when I met the HIV affected children in Mangalore on two occasions in one year. They are not aware of the disease but children of 8 months to 15 years are on dieing stage. Oh God why such trouble to kids I often say. I have given up grandeur in life and as for as possible contributing a lot to the causes Pooja Gandhi became silent remembering the trauma of kids.

I am attached to the BPO HEROES headed by Parameshwar Godrej. I went to Bagalkot, Jamahandi, Mangalore to help the HIV affected children and women. Recently I took nearly 50 HIV affected children to water Park in Mangalore. I celebrated my birthday but stayed away from publicity for such work.

I had even struggled to get MBBS seat without donation to a poor student. But I got upset when a newspaper wrote that I am taking commission for such work. Believe me first what work and money I spend for deserving people I do not want to explain. For the poor student MBBS seat I was told that Rs.70 lakhs donation has to be given here in Karnataka medical colleges. Finally I approached a college in Tamil Nadu and support the girl to take up medicine says Pooja Gandhi.

On her agenda she is not interested in becoming MLA or MLC. I am not a good student. I failed many a times and at this age of 27 years I am taking up the causes of sex workers who are in lakhs in our state of Karnataka. The shelter, ration card and work to live on their own legs I am emphasizing the government said Pooja Gandhi.

Known for nice observations and good attitudes Pooja Gandhi startled the media by saying she had not taken remuneration for five of her 29 films. For the sake of friendship we had to do like that she says and kept away from mentioning the five film names.
